Power considers closing four stores, putting 61 jobs at risk

Home electronics retailer Power Finland is considering closing its stores in Lohja, Porvoo, Kotka and Järvenpää, Yle reported on Tuesday.

The company will begin change negotiations with employees at the stores facing possible closure. The negotiations could lead to the termination of up to 61 employment contracts. Alternatively, employees’ work locations or employment terms could change substantially.

The negotiations are due to begin next Tuesday and are expected to conclude in October.

Power said it is assessing the appropriate size of its store network. Its long-term goal is to strengthen the company’s franchise model.

Power Finland is part of the Nordic Power International AS group, which operates in Finland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Power has around 50 stores in Finland.
