Fishing conditions remain favorable for trawlers near Faroe Islands, Iceland, and East Greenland
The fishing conditions for the trawlers remain favorable, according to the Fish Market.
Three pairs are catching upsa (haddock) and other whitefish, while two pairs are focused on catching Atlantic salmon. Both icefish trawlers are currently docked.
Two freezer trawlers are near the Faroe Islands, one operates around Iceland, and two are off East Greenland. The vessels are successfully catching cod, ling, and tusk.
There are five freezer trawlers active in the area.
A favorable current is noted, and the weather forecast is generally good, leading the Fish Market to expect some offshore fishing this week. It is possible that some small fishing boats will head to the Faroese bank.
An ice trawler is targeting black halibut, and two others are fishing for cod around Iceland. One freezer trawler is stationed near the Faroe Islands, and another is near East Greenland, with both focused on black halibut.
Two trawlers are further north, catching cod and haddock along with some flatfish. Three trawlers are en route to land; they mostly catch flatfish and cod, with fishing conditions being quite satisfactory, according to the Fish Market.
Additionally, two gillnetters are targeting black halibut, while two others are fishing for Atlantic mackerel, but their catch is minimal.
