Suspected election fraud hits Left Party’s minister push

Suspected election fraud is the last thing the Left Party needs as it argues for ministerial posts, SVT’s domestic political commentator Elisabeth Marmorstein says in an analysis.

Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar and the party leadership have spent the past week arguing that the Left Party should receive ministerial positions. Against that backdrop, reports of suspected election fraud have created an unwelcome problem for the party.

Marmorstein says it is notable that a person at the very bottom of the party list, who has been a member for just over a year and is unknown to the party leadership, managed to win a seat through preference votes.

“That does not mean he cannot do a good job representing the party in the Riksdag. But it once again shows that the party needs to keep better track of its lists,” Marmorstein says.
