Committee chair expects Icelandair strike talks at meeting

María Rut Kristinsdóttir, chair of Iceland’s Environment and Transport Committee, expects the labour dispute between Icelandair and the Icelandic Aircraft Mechanics Association to be discussed at the committee’s scheduled meeting on Tuesday, mbl.is reports.

Unless the situation changes, an all-out strike by aircraft mechanics will begin at midnight before Wednesday.

“We are meeting tomorrow,” Kristinsdóttir, a member of the Viðreisn party, told mbl.is when asked whether the impending strike had been discussed by the committee. “It has not been discussed yet, but we are just starting our work now, and I expect this to be discussed in that forum.”
