Sigmar Guðmundsson takes sick leave from Icelandic parliament

Sigmar Guðmundsson, parliamentary group chairman of the Viðreisn party, has taken sick leave, mbl.is reports. Valdimar Breiðfjörð Birgisson will take his seat in Alþingi, Iceland’s parliament, as a substitute member.

María Rut Kristinsdóttir, a Viðreisn member of parliament and deputy chair of the party’s parliamentary group, confirmed the changes to mbl.is.

She will serve as acting parliamentary group chairman during Sigmar’s absence.
