Council to review Strendur sports hall plans

Kringvarp Føroya reports that work is still under way to secure a sports hall in Strendur. The project is on the agenda for Sjóvar municipality’s council meeting on Thursday.

The construction committee recommends approving the building programme and putting the work out to tender.

The mayor will ask for the matter to be discussed behind closed doors because the names of potential bidders may be mentioned at the meeting.

Project began in 2022

Serious discussions about a sports hall in Strendur began in 2022. In 2023, Sjóvar municipality allocated eight million kroner to prepare for and begin construction of the hall.

At the time, the municipality said the hall would be located south of the village hall in Strendur and that it had bought the land for the project.
