Tórshavn allocates two million kroner to repair waterlogged cemetery

Tórshavn City Council has allocated two million kroner to repairs at the cemetery beside Velbastaður Road, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports.

The cemetery’s newest section is severely waterlogged because the drainage is inadequate. It cannot currently be used.

The work is expected to be put out to invited tender. The soil will need to be removed and replaced with a suitable material that allows water to drain from the burial area.

The excess water has also damaged the paths, which will be repaired. The section requiring renovation covers 2,500 square metres, and the work will be carried out in stages. The first stage covers 700 square metres.
