Faroe Islands increase imports from EU and wider Europe

Imports from the European Union have risen to 440 million kroner a month, roughly the same level as before 2022, according to the public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

Imports from the rest of Europe have also increased, from 100 million kroner a month to an average of 250 million kroner.

Imports from the EU have been rising since summer 2024.

The Faroe Islands imported goods worth 12 billion kroner from August 2025 to July 2026, an 11.8 per cent increase compared with the previous 12-month period.

The value of imports rose across all product groups over the past 12 months except for manufactured goods classified chiefly by material.
