Yle will open its doors in Helsinki’s Pasila district on Saturday for a public event celebrating the broadcaster’s 100th anniversary, Yle reports.
Visitors will be able to meet the people behind popular programmes, tour editorial offices and learn about Yle’s work. The event will run from 10am to 4pm, with the number of people allowed in the event area limited at any one time.
Yle Street has been set up in the Yle Studio Building in Pasila, where Yle brands, familiar programmes and their creators will host activities at separate stands.
Participants include Yle Radio Suomi, Yle Vega, Yle Archive, BUU-klubben and Yle Kioski. Yle Galaxi, Yle Luuttiklubi and Yle Summer will jointly host a games area.
The programme also includes presentations about Yle’s news and sports departments, as well as its costume and props operations. Visitors can also get an advance look at Yle’s autumn programming.
Activities will also be held at Musiikkitalo, a music venue, where the Radio Symphony Orchestra will open its doors as part of the venue’s free day.
