Faroe Islands unveils artificial intelligence strategy for education

Kringvarp Føroya reports that a new artificial intelligence strategy aims to make AI a useful and integrated part of teaching at educational institutions in the Faroe Islands.

The strategy, presented on Thursday, is intended to ensure that the Faroese education sector can use artificial intelligence appropriately.

It is divided into four strategic areas: teaching and learning, assessment and examinations, skills development, and research and dissemination.

Various projects will be carried out under the four areas to meet goals set for 2027, 2029 and 2032.

Assessment and examinations is described as one of the most urgent areas.

Eyðun Gaard, director of Nám, chaired the steering group that developed the strategy. Bárður á Lakjuni, the minister for education, also attended its presentation.
