New state infrastructure company pitches projects to global investors

Iceland’s new state infrastructure company, Göng og brú, presented its projects to international advisers and investors at a marketing and presentation day in Harpa on Thursday, mbl.is reports. The event formed part of the company’s tender process in the European Economic Area.

The government said foreign and Icelandic partners would be essential to realising the transport projects that authorities plan to entrust to the company in an effort to end stagnation in major infrastructure construction.

Intent declaration signed

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Göng og brú signed a declaration of intent on developing transport infrastructure.

The declaration is the first step towards the state formally assigning the company responsibility for the development, financing and operation of projects including transport infrastructure at Hornafjarðarfljót, Ölfusárbrú, Fljótagöng, Sundabraut and the expansion of Hvalfjörður Tunnel.

Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir, Infrastructure Minister Eyjólfur Ármannsson and Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Daði Már Kristófersson addressed the meeting.

Other speakers included Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson, chief executive of Göng og brú; Stuart Cairns of Bird and Bird, the company’s tender adviser; Sigurður Hannesson, director of the Federation of Icelandic Industries; and Esther Finnbogadóttir, a specialist at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
