Klaksvík police chief condemns centralisation in Tórshavn

Kringvarp Føroya reports that Klaksvík police station manager Jan Poulsen has criticised the centralisation of the police in Tórshavn, saying the station is understaffed and staff morale is at rock bottom.

Poulsen made the comments in an article published by Dansk Politi, the trade publication of the Danish police union Politiforbundet. He criticised the fact that all decisions are made in Tórshavn, including the duty roster for the Klaksvík station, which he said assigns too few officers.

“The working environment is in free fall,” Poulsen told Dansk Politi. “When you arrive at work, you have no idea who you will be working with, or whether anyone will be there to work with. You are often sent to Tórshavn without any real purpose, so there is often no one at the station here.”
