Danish debate focuses on rising food and fuel costs

DR reports that Denmark’s political debate is focusing on whether everyday life has become too expensive.

The government wants to reduce value-added tax on food, but parts of the opposition and several experts say the proposal is inappropriate. Fuel prices are also at record highs.

The debate will ask whether politicians should make daily life cheaper for people in Denmark, and how they could do so.

Tax and Growth Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt will join, among others, Pelle Dragsted of the Red-Green Alliance and Anders Vistisen of the Danish People’s Party on the DR1 programme Debatten.
