Defence minister to assess Cheminova site for possible weapons factory

Denmark’s Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus will investigate whether the Cheminova factory site can be used for weapons production, DR reported.

Bruus said the factory’s closure in Lemvig will cost many people their jobs. He said its history and location made it relevant to assess whether, and how, it could be used as Denmark strengthens its defence and defence industry.

“We will investigate this further in dialogue with other authorities and industry,” Bruus said in a written response to DR.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen previously described weapons production at the Cheminova site as a “very good idea”.
