Police suspect man who threatened shop security guard with knife
A security guard at a shop in a shopping centre in Lóuhólar, Breiðholt, was threatened with a knife on Tuesday, mbl.is reports. No one had been arrested as of Wednesday, but police in the capital area have suspicions about the man’s identity.
Police received a report of a theft at the shop. By the time officers arrived, the man had left.
Heimir Ríkarðsson, deputy chief superintendent with the capital-area police, said the man had been caught stealing. When the security guard approached him, he pulled out a knife and threatened the guard before managing to leave the shop.
“The police have an image of the person and suspect a specific individual whom we know,” Heimir told mbl.is.
