Danish businesses nearly quadruple AI use

The share of Danish businesses using artificial intelligence has nearly quadrupled since 2023, according to figures from Statistics Denmark reported by DR.

In 2026, 59 per cent of Danish businesses with more than 10 employees used AI, compared with 15 per cent in 2023 and 42 per cent in 2025.

AI use includes text analysis, converting spoken language into machine-readable code, generating images and videos, and automating workflows.

Frederikke Saabye, industry director at the Confederation of Danish Industry, said businesses had moved from discussing AI as a technology to using it as a practical tool. Larger companies are leading the way, she said in a written comment.

According to the organisation, businesses see increased efficiency as the main benefit of AI. A lack of employee skills, knowledge and time are the biggest barriers to making full use of the technology.

The growing use of AI also requires greater care, said Natasha Friis Saxberg, chief executive of IT-Branchen, an industry association for technology companies. She highlighted the importance of quality, transparency, data security and human judgement, as well as broad AI training and further education for employees.
