Ylivieska City will begin co-operation negotiations as it seeks annual savings of 1.5 million euros, Yle reports. The city says achieving the savings will require changes affecting personnel and its organisational structures.

A steering group preparing the city’s adjustment programme plans to propose that the city board launch the negotiations. The board is due to meet on September 28.

The city has also imposed an immediate recruitment ban. All ongoing recruitment processes in which no selection decision has been made will be suspended until further notice.

According to the city, the ban is intended partly to prepare for possible future personnel arrangements and to ensure that the co-operation negotiations proceed lawfully.
