Fire crews tackle blaze at Toppstöðin in Elliðaárdalur

A fire has broken out at Toppstöðin in Elliðaárdalur, with thick smoke visible above the area, mbl.is reports.

The Capital Area Fire and Rescue Service said all available crews had been called out and firefighting operations were under way.

Four fire engines and two ambulances are at the scene. Responders are directing passers-by away from the area, which has been closed.

It was not immediately known whether anyone was injured or whether the building was unoccupied. The cause of the fire also remained unclear, chief watch officer Magnús Jónasson said.
