Technical school abandons planned Hafnarfjörður development

Tækniskólinn, a technical school, has abandoned plans to build a new campus at Flensborg Harbour in Hafnarfjörður, mbl.is reports.

According to a joint statement from the school and Hafnarfjörður Municipality, the municipality has not been able to hand over the plot intended for the school on time, and it remains unclear when it will be able to do so.

As a result, preparations and design work for the new building have already been delayed by several months.

“Hafnarfjörður Municipality and Tækniskólinn agree that there is no scope for further delays to the project,” the statement says. The school and other parties involved will therefore examine alternative locations for the school’s long-term site in the capital area.

The municipality and the school said they remained committed to good cooperation and to handling the next steps professionally. Further information will be provided as the work progresses.
