Two Gula miðinn supplements recalled over alkaloid levels

Heilsa ehf. has recalled two Gula miðinn supplements after levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids exceeded the maximum permitted level for food supplements, mbl.is reported. The recall was carried out in consultation with the Reykjavík Health Inspectorate.
The recalled products are Husk, barcode 5690684004446, from batches 25/16/11, best before 12 June 2028; 25/24/11, best before 9 July 2028; 25/35/15, best before 16 September 2028; and 25/50/17, best before 23 April 2029.
It also covers Colon cleanser, barcode 5690684000868, from batch 25/5/59, best before 23 April 2028, and batch 061225, best before 10 September 2028.
Retailers have been instructed to remove the products from sale. Consumers who have products from the affected batches should not consume them and are asked to return them to the place of purchase, to Heilsa ehf., or dispose of them.
The products have Gula miðinn’s older packaging. They were manufactured by Lifeplan in Britain and imported by Heilsa ehf. They were sold by pharmacies and retailers including Lyfja, Krónan, Hagkaup, Apótekarinn, Fjarðarkaup and Urðapótek.
