Kársnes homicide trial postponed again

The main hearing in a homicide case in Kársnes has been postponed by two weeks and will now begin on September 29, mbl.is reports. It had been scheduled to start on Monday and last four days.

A Greek man in his twenties is charged with causing the death of a Portuguese man at Skjólbraut in Kársnes in November last year. He denies the charges and a compensation claim in the case.

According to the indictment, the defendant allegedly stabbed the Portuguese man three times in the abdomen with a knife and cut his throat. The cause of death was extensive blood loss.

The man was initially arrested in December, several days after the victim was found dead, and held in custody for several days before being released. He was arrested again the following day after new evidence emerged and has remained in custody since then.

The hearing was originally scheduled to take place in May, but was postponed until mid-September and has now been delayed again by two weeks.
