Finnish spot electricity prices set to rise on Monday morning

Spot electricity prices will climb to around 20 cents per kilowatt-hour at about 8 a.m. on Monday, Yle reported, citing the Finnish News Agency STT. Quarter-hour prices are expected to remain relatively high throughout the day, with the daily average reaching just over 15 cents per kilowatt-hour.

The highest price is forecast for about 10.30 p.m., when the quarter-hour rate will exceed 32 cents per kilowatt-hour.

Forecasts indicate that wind power production will fall overnight. Annual maintenance on Olkiluoto 3, Finland’s largest nuclear reactor, began last Thursday and may also contribute to higher spot electricity prices.
