Gribskov opens as Denmark’s second nature national park

DR reports that Gribskov nature national park in northern Zealand opens today, becoming Denmark’s second nature national park.

The park is designed to give nature more freedom. Castrated bulls and red deer will roam behind fences and graze throughout the year.

The aim is to create more wild nature in Denmark and increase biodiversity.

The national parks have faced citizen protests and demonstrations since the plans were first introduced.

In 2024, Environment Minister and Minister for Equality Magnus Heunicke took the first dig in a mini excavator at the Gribskov park.
