Danish Air Show opens with silence after Greek crash

The Danish Air Show opened in Aalborg with a minute of silence to honour two pilots who died in a crash at an air show near Athens last weekend, Danish broadcaster DR reports.
The tribute was considered appropriate because Greek visitors are attending the event, said Morten Valentin, a major and press officer at Aalborg Air Base.
A fighter jet crashed and exploded in front of thousands of spectators and cameras during the Greek air show last Saturday. Both pilots died, but no members of the public were injured.
Valentin said the accident had deeply affected the organisers because the pilots were colleagues.
About 125,000 people are expected to attend the Danish Air Show to watch military and civilian aircraft and helicopters perform in the air.
Valentin said visitors could feel safe despite the accident in Greece. He said the event met all safety requirements and that organisers had prepared a plan taking all risks into account.
The Danish Air Show is being held for the first time since 2022.
