Party leaders reveal their most embarrassing election stunts

Swedish party leaders have reflected on the most uncomfortable tactics they used to attract votes during the 2026 election campaign, SVT reported after Saturday’s final debate.

The leaders said the demanding campaign period was coming to an end and were asked what had been most difficult, as well as which attempts to win votes they felt most embarrassed about.

Jimmie Åkesson of the Sweden Democrats said one of his campaign stunts “felt a little undignified, actually”.

The party leaders said they were looking forward to sleeping late, having calmer days and “rolling up their sleeves” once the intensive campaign was over.
