Police have reached the truck driver involved in Thursday’s fatal moped crash in Varkaus, Yle reports. A 15-year-old boy died after his moped fell and went under the truck.

Police believe the driver did not notice the crash and therefore continued without stopping. Investigators assess that the boy was not struck by the front of the truck.

There is currently no video footage of the incident. The driver is a Finnish man. Police have not said whether he contacted them or was reached through other means.

“He was most likely reached and spoken to by telephone. A formal interview has not yet been conducted,” said Aki Hartikainen, a detective chief inspector and the on-call investigation leader with the Eastern Finland Police Department.

According to eyewitness accounts, the logging truck was in the lane for traffic continuing straight through the intersection, while the moped was in the right-turn lane. Despite this, police have received information indicating that the moped continued straight.
