Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson named CEO of Göng og brú

Infrastructure company Göng og brú ohf. has appointed Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson as its chief executive, mbl.is reports. The company’s board made the decision following an open recruitment process.

Göng og brú is an independent operating, financing and holding company owned by the Icelandic state. Its purpose is to accelerate economically important transport infrastructure projects, establish a stable financing framework for such projects and ensure cost-effective, professional and efficient project management during their preparation and implementation.

According to the company’s announcement, Rúnarsson has extensive experience in management, strategy and the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects. He joins Göng og brú from Isavia, where he was managing director of business and development at Keflavík Airport.

“I am grateful for the trust and look forward to leading the infrastructure company Göng og brú. I am positive about the government’s plan to accelerate the development of larger transport infrastructure in this way,” Rúnarsson said in the announcement.

He added that his experience at Isavia leading infrastructure development and completing projects on time and within budget would be useful in his new role.

Göng og brú has announced a presentation and marketing day at Harpa on September 17 at 1.30pm, where the company’s role and purpose will be explained in greater detail.

Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir will address the event, discussing the company’s establishment, the government’s mandate and vision for infrastructure development, and Göng og brú’s role in that work.
