Higher education places rise as autumn applicants fall

Nearly 33,000 people applied for higher education places in Finland’s autumn joint application, Yle reported, citing the Finnish Education Agency. The application period ended on Thursday.

More than 12,400 places were available, mostly at universities of applied sciences. Last year, about 11,000 places were offered in the corresponding application round.

The number of applicants fell by around 5 per cent from last autumn. The fields attracting the most applicants were health and welfare, business, administration and law, and technology.

The results of the joint application will be published by the end of November at the latest.
