Police still seek truck driver after fatal Varkaus moped crash

Police have not yet located the truck driver linked to a fatal moped crash in Varkaus, Yle reported. The driver did not stop at the scene.

An underage boy riding a moped died in the crash in central Varkaus on Thursday evening. The collision happened before 7 p.m. at the junction of Highway 23 and Relanderinkatu.

According to police, the moped and a truck collided, after which the truck continued west towards Varkaus ABC without stopping. Police later уточни that the vehicle was a timber truck with a white cab.

Police in Eastern Finland are asking anyone with information about the truck to contact the emergency number 112. They are also asking the driver to get in touch.

The doors of Varkaus main church will be open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for quiet reflection. Youth workers from the city and parish are also offering support, particularly to young people.
