Finland to introduce green licence plates for taxis

Finland will begin identifying taxis with green licence plates next year, Yle reports. The government issued a decree on Thursday stating that vehicles used as taxis will have green plates with black registration numbers.

The change applies to all taxis, including vehicles booked through platform services.

The new plates are due to be introduced on 1 January 2027, followed by a six month transition period. Green plates will become mandatory for taxis on 1 July 2027.

In addition to the green plates, taxis should also have a taxi light on the roof.
