Competition Authority accuses Síminn of predatory pricing

mbl.is reports that Iceland’s Competition Authority believes temporary offers by telecommunications company Síminn on its Heimilispakkinn package between 2019 and 2021 involved predatory pricing.

The investigation concerns Síminn’s sale of telecommunications and television services through the package, according to a statement to the stock exchange from Ásar, Síminn’s parent company.

The statement of objections is not a binding administrative decision but part of the proceedings. It gives Síminn an opportunity to submit explanations, comments and evidence before the authority reaches a decision.

Ásar said Síminn would exercise its right to respond and “fully defend itself in the case”. The company will provide updates on the proceedings as appropriate and in accordance with the law.
