Starvsfelagið, a trade union, and the Ministry of Finance will negotiate a new agreement today, Kringvarp Føroya reported. Their current agreement expires on October 1.

The parties have already agreed on how the wage framework will be set, so the negotiations will focus only on the terms of the agreement.

Starvsfelagið expects the wage framework to be known in the first week of October, when the final figures for inflation and productivity become available.

Earlier this year, 12 trade unions reached a five year agreement with the Ministry of Finance on the wage framework. On Monday, Starvsfelagið will negotiate with the Municipal Employers Association, which is not part of the wage framework agreement. The union’s agreements with both public employers remain valid until October 1.
