Police may have finished questioning witnesses in connection with the fatal crash on Krýsuvíkurvegur, mbl.is reports. Three young people died in the accident.

Sævar Guðmundsson, a chief superintendent, said the questioning was “possibly complete”, although a final decision had not been made. “Nothing has changed since yesterday,” he said.

Police in the capital region have questioned around 10 people and were reported on Tuesday to be well advanced with the interviews. It remained unclear whether further witnesses would be called.

The case is being investigated primarily as an accident, Sævar said. No one has suspect status, and investigators are focused on establishing what happened. He could not confirm whether speeding caused the crash, but said it was one of the issues being examined.
