National Coalition Party MP Mia Laiho has submitted a written question to the Finnish government on regulating aesthetic treatments, Yle reported, citing a statement from Laiho.

Laiho asks what the government plans to do to prevent patient safety problems in aesthetic treatments and when its report on the issue will be published.

The government programme states that the need for legislation on alternative treatments and non-medical aesthetic treatments will be assessed.

Laiho is calling for stricter regulation of aesthetic treatments and improved patient safety. She said the assessment should be carried out urgently to establish what legislative changes are needed in the sector and to implement them as soon as possible.
