Road administration cuts executive board by one

mbl.is reports that the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration has reduced its regions from five to four, cutting the size of its executive board by one. The changes are intended to simplify the organisation and strengthen financial oversight.

The capital area will no longer operate as a separate region, with its responsibilities transferred to other organisational units. Bergþóra Kristinsdóttir, who was director of the service division, has left the organisation, while several managers have taken on new roles.

Guðmundur Valur Guðmundsson, previously director of the development division, is becoming director of the infrastructure division. Arndís Ósk Ólafsdóttir Arnalds, previously director of the infrastructure division, will head the maintenance and service division.

Bryndís Friðriksdóttir, previously regional director for the capital area, is becoming director of the development division.

The service division is also being renamed the maintenance and service division and will oversee both maintenance and services across the transport system. Public transport responsibilities will move from that division to the chief executive’s office, while a support department will move from the infrastructure division to the maintenance and service division.

Responsibilities for developing and expanding the transport system in the capital area will move to the development division. The project office for primary roads in the capital area will move to the infrastructure division. The office oversees the preparation and implementation of primary road projects under the Transport Agreement.
