Five stores in Reykjavík’s Kringlan shopping center have reopened following a fire that impacted the location earlier this summer. Despite this positive development, ten other stores remain closed and are not expected to resume operations until the end of September or the beginning of October. The fire occurred in mid-June while contractors were working on melting roofing materials, which necessitated the closure of a total of 29 stores. In response to the series of fires that have emerged, the Housing and Construction Institute has initiated preparations for a campaign focused on safety procedures regarding the installation of roofing materials.
