Bakkafrost hosts 150 global customers and partners in the Faroes

Kringvarp Føroya reported that around 150 of Bakkafrost’s customers and business partners from around the world are in the Faroe Islands for the company’s Bakkafrost Summit.

The summit is held every other year and gives guests an insight into Bakkafrost, the Faroese aquaculture industry and the company’s work across the entire value chain, from smolt to finished products.

The first part of Tuesday’s programme took place at Løkshøll hall, with presentations on global market conditions, the outlook for the aquaculture industry and the priorities expected to become important in the coming years.

Later on Tuesday and on Wednesday, the visitors will tour various parts of the business, including smolt facilities, farming sites, a slaughterhouse and finished-product production. They will also have an opportunity to see more of the Faroe Islands.

“Customers are generally very impressed by the Faroe Islands. Once we have brought customers here for a visit, 80 per cent of the work is done, because the Faroe Islands are so special. When we combine that with selling a product that comes from here, it works very well,” Bakkafrost chief executive Regin Jacobsen said.

The summit gives Bakkafrost an opportunity to strengthen its relationships with customers and partners and show them what lies behind Faroese salmon and the company. Representatives from 25 countries are attending the event.
