Pisa results give Swedish opposition opening before election

Sweden’s latest PISA results are bad news for the Tidö parties, especially the Liberals, SVT’s domestic political commentator Mats Knutson writes in an analysis published five days before the election.

The red-green parties now have a strong opportunity to attack the government on one of the issues voters consider most important, Knutson says.

The analysis follows the release of Sweden’s historically poor results in the latest PISA assessment. Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson has described the situation as a “national emergency” and strongly criticised the government’s school policy.
