Police in Iceland’s capital region have questioned around 10 people in connection with the fatal crash on Krýsuvíkurvegur, a road where three young people died, mbl.is reports.

Chief Superintendent Sævar Guðmundsson said investigators were well advanced with interviews with people who were at the scene and expected to complete them before the weekend. It remains unclear whether further witnesses will be called.

He said the investigation was progressing and was being conducted primarily as an accident investigation. No one has suspect status in the case.

“We are primarily trying to establish what really happened,” Sævar said. He could not confirm whether speeding caused the crash, but said it was among the issues being examined.

The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Transportation Accident Investigation Board.
