MobilePay has launched a limited version of its payment app for children aged seven and over, DR reports. The feature was tested last week and became available to all users this week, Vipps MobilePay told Ritzau.

Parents can control which functions their child is allowed to use.

Parents or guardians must create the child’s account through their own MobilePay user profile. They must first confirm their relationship to the child by submitting a register extract from Borger.dk to MobilePay. Once the company approves the document, the child can be added through the Add child function in the app. If the child has more than one parent or guardian, they must also approve the registration.

Children under 15 have a balance in MobilePay through which money can be received and sent. Children aged 13 and over can also add a payment card and choose whether payments should be taken from their balance or the card.

MobilePay said in a press release issued earlier this year that the app had reached 4.7 million users in 2025.
