Ending reimbursements for basic creams could save 12 million euros

Ending reimbursements for basic creams could save about 12 million euros, Finland’s Social Insurance Institution Kela said, according to Yle.

About 10 million euros of the savings would come from eliminating reimbursements for the creams. Just under 2 million euros would be saved because the creams would no longer count towards the annual medicine payment cap.

Kela’s register data shows that more than 300,000 people in Finland received reimbursements for basic creams last year, totalling about 10 million euros. The reimbursement has been about 30 euros per recipient in recent years.
