Low-pressure system brings Finland three days of rain

A broad low-pressure system will bring rain and gusty weather to much of Finland for the next three days, Yle reports. Drier conditions are expected only in some areas.

The rain will be most widespread on Tuesday as the system moves over the country in the afternoon. The heaviest rainfall will hit Lapland, where some areas could receive up to 20 millimetres. Southerly winds may become gusty across almost the entire country, particularly in the regions of Ostrobothnia.

Temperatures will remain moderate, reaching about 15 degrees Celsius in southern and central Finland and around 10 degrees in the north.

By evening, conditions will begin to turn drier in the north, starting in the west. The weather will also become drier in western and southern Finland, although rain will continue across much of the country.

Unsettled weather will continue on Wednesday as another centre of low pressure moves over Finland. The heaviest rain will fall in central parts of the country, while widespread showers are expected elsewhere. Far northern Lapland will be an exception, with dry and sunny conditions.

Temperatures will rise slightly from Tuesday. The south will reach just below 20 degrees, while temperatures in Lapland will rise above 10 degrees. Over the coming days, highs are expected to remain fairly steady, at just below 20 degrees in the south and between just below 10 and just below 15 degrees in the north.
