Hoyvík pond drained to remove stones and protect ducklings

Kringvarp Føroya reports that Tórshavn Municipality has drained Hoyvík pond and begun removing stones designed to represent the Faroe Islands on a map.

The municipality says the work is intended to protect ducklings. Gulls have used the stones to catch the young birds.

The work is also affecting the trout that normally live in the pond. While it is empty, the fish have been moved to an aquarium.
