Helicopter rescues motorcyclist injured in Iceland’s highlands

A Coast Guard helicopter was called out after a motorcyclist injured his leg in an accident near Lake Blautulón by Skælingar, mbl.is reported on Sunday.

The man had been riding a motorcycle in Iceland’s highlands when he was injured. Authorities deemed it necessary to send the helicopter to retrieve him.

The helicopter landed with the man at Reykjavík Airport shortly before 2 p.m. An ambulance then took him to Landspítali hospital for treatment.
