Ikea, payment outage, Teya

An outage at payment service provider Teya has significantly slowed checkout operations at IKEA Iceland, the company’s managing director told mbl.is.

“It was still down the last time I knew,” Stefán Rúnar Dagsson said, adding that IKEA had brought out GSM payment terminals as a partial solution and had been able to use them at the checkout tills.

“Each transaction takes much longer, and it is terrible when this happens,” Dagsson said. He said similar incidents had occurred two or three times before, but had not lasted as long.

According to Dagsson, Teya was investigating the cause of the outage with all its technical staff working to resolve it. IKEA also had staff ready to respond as soon as the payment service was restored.

“We hope this comes back now or as soon as possible. This is clearly a serious outage,” he said.
