Six time Everest climber highlights warming impact on Himalayas

Purnima Shrestha has reached the summit of Mount Everest six times and holds a world record listed in Guinness World Records, mbl.is reports. She also works as a press photographer and wants to use her experience to draw attention to the effects of global warming.

Shrestha has witnessed changes in the Himalayas firsthand. Massive floods of water and mud swept through populated areas of Nepal at the end of August, killing hundreds of people and leaving many thousands still missing.

The disasters did not surprise her, she says. She also describes how a journey to the foot of Everest changed her life and led to the record that followed.
