Irish media report death of teenager in Iceland crash

Irish media have reported the death of 18-year-old Hannah Jane Large, one of three young people killed in a serious car crash on Krýsuvíkurvegur road early Monday, mbl.is reports.

Hannah was from the town of Greystown in Ireland. A local news outlet there was the first Irish media organisation to report her death and said a memorial service for her would be announced tomorrow. It also expressed condolences to Hannah’s parents and younger brother.

Irish public broadcaster RTÉ reported that the country’s foreign service was aware of the case and was providing appropriate advice.

Both outlets also reported on condolences from President Halla Tómasdóttir to the victims’ families and on a response from Hannah’s mother.

“Thank you for the statement. My daughter, Hannah from Ireland, was one of the victims of this tragedy. She fell in love with your country, she loved the people, and her last days were the happiest of her life. That is the only comfort we have and hold on to. We spoke to her that evening and she was full of joy. It is terrible that she has left her brother and us behind,” Hannah’s mother wrote in a comment beneath the president’s post.
