The Danish National Police has discovered an error in the criminal register that deleted information potentially relevant to issuing child-related criminal record certificates and weapons permits, DR reports.
The police are investigating the scope of the error and its consequences.
National Police Commissioner Lasse Boje described the incident as “very serious” and said the authorities were doing everything possible to restore the deleted rulings.
The register, also known as the Central Criminal Register, stores information about offences used, among other things, to prepare criminal record certificates. It includes information on charges brought and rulings issued in criminal cases.
