Hefring advances to final stage of NATO technology accelerator

Icelandic high tech company Hefring has been selected among 15 companies to continue developing its technology through NATO’s DIANA accelerator, Morgunblaðið reports.

More than 3,600 proposals were submitted to the accelerator, while 150 entrepreneurs took part in the project’s earlier stages.

Hefring said the selection brings it closer to having its ship monitoring solution adopted by the fleets of NATO countries.

The 15 companies in the accelerator’s final group will receive grants of up to €300,000 from NATO. Testing and trials have shown that their projects align well with the alliance’s needs.

Hefring is currently taking part in the NATO naval exercise REPMUS 2026 in Portugal, where the latest robotic and autonomous technologies for military use and maritime surveillance are being tested.
