Midflokkur, a political party, is seeking changes to the abortion law that allows women to obtain abortions on request, Kringvarp Føroya reports. Party chairman Steffan Klein Poulsen said the proposal aims to introduce “some elements of life” into the legislation.

Poulsen said the party does not support the new law but acknowledged that reversing it is unlikely. Instead, it has been working on amendments to the law adopted in December 2025.

The proposal is not yet complete, but three main points have been identified:

Mandatory counselling for women seeking an abortion.

A reflection period for women seeking an abortion.

Collecting information from women seeking abortions for use in statistics.
